Im sure this has been discussed but i cant find nothing. What if Khyron had not destroyed the SDF1 and the SDF2 but instead sneaked of and went to meet up with the robotech masters. The protoculture Khyron had stolen would that be enough to power one of the robotech masters motherships?

sneaking off without defeating his enemy? Never in a million Time Cycles!!!!!!!!!
Lord Khyron always carried out every mission assigned to him. Sometimes he succeeded, sometimes he failed, but he would never have left Earth without attempting to destroy his nemesis or die trying.
Okay, Defending the honor of Lord Khyron Kravshera of the 7th Mechanized Division of the Botoru Battalion rant mode off.
I doubt that the Protoculture Khyron stole and collected would've been enough to power one of the ships of the Robotech Masters. Gloval would have made sure that the PC, Khyron and Azonia stole would just be enough to get them to wherever the Masters were at the time or so it seems like to me.
Gloval would've also had enough stockpiled somewhere else so that when the SDF-2 had been completed and was on its maiden voyage, all Captain Hayes would've had to do is follow Khyron.
Alas things didn't happen that way.

Kyron did not have enough to do both. I believe he would have been hoping to meet up with the Robotech Masters to become the new Zent. Lord, and be rearmed and powered by the Masters.

Nah, it was enough to get his ship flying again, and to allow him to execute his plan of destroying the SDF-1 and leaving Earth, but I doubt it could have been enough to run one of the Masters ships for any length of time.
Whatever happened to Khyron's buddy, Grel? Was he killed in the same suicide attack?

Grel was on the salvaged destroyer's bridge with Khyron and Azonia. He was killed when the bridge was damaged by the SDF-1's main gun.

Unknown. But considering that Khyron was something of a 'loose cannon', they probibly would have vaporized him. After taking whatever protoculture supplies he had left.

Nah, even Zor was a loose cannon, and they cloned him.
I think the Masters would have rewarded Khyron, by giving him more support, etc.
Gee, that gives me an idea for a fanfic. What if the Masters had received messages from Khyron before his death? What if the Masters had been monitoring Khyron during his final attack against SDF-1, and maybe that's how they knew where to look for the SDF-1 crash site.
What if after reaching the SDF-1 crash site, the Masters then cloned Khyron just like they'd cloned Zor? I could make a great fanfic out of that!
In the 80s as a kid, somehow I thought that Khyron had a twin clone. The reason I thought this, was because of one of the toy commercials:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G1Rgb1stt5s
"It's Breetai! Dolza! And evil Khyron-2!"
I swear - that's what I thought they meant!
And the commercials came out at the same time as the show, so that means it could be canon!

I know what we can call the story - "Loose Canon"
The Masters scout parties arrive at the SDF-1 crash site, and while looking around, manage to find some of Khyron's remains. They decide to clone Khyron just like they did Zor, in the hopes of utilizing him to find the hidden Protoculture matrix.
However, Khyron is cloned in micronized form, and not as a macronized Zentraedi. Unlike his dead namesake, Khyron-2 is human-sized. He is given a Red Invid-fighter Bioroid to pilot, just like Zor Prime.
Also like Zor, his personality is not easily controllable, making him a loose cannon as he was in his former life. His intensely aggressive nature makes him a natural rival to Zor Prime.
Khyron-II shows up in episode 40 ("Volunteers") piloting his Red Bioroid to harass the shuttle near Space Station Liberty, with Dana and Marie barely fighting him off at the end.

Khyron was "contaminated" by Terran culture. Remember him kissing Azonia? I don't think the Masters would have approved, my guess is they would have killed him outright.

I doubt that the Masters would want to dispose of a usable resource like Khyron and his troops. The clones would probably all have been "reconditioned" to serve the Masters (the same way Zor Prime was reconditioned to attack the 15th).

The Masters may not have initially known about the threat of human cultural contamination, and only later learned of it from Khyron's recollections. This is why they didn't initially take any precautions against it, as in the case of Musica.
As BlaqChaos said, Khyron's clone reconditioning would have been automatically applied, but as time passed, Khyron's own war-like nature would have reasserted itself, especially due to repeated battles with the enemy. And the more it did, the better his combat performance becomes, as his own natural aggressiveness and cunning re-emerged.
Since the Masters' main focus was on the imminent threat of Invid attack, they would want to keep experienced fighters on hand to handle that.

On just how thoroughly Khyron had been messed up. Remember, he wasn't exactly stable in the first place, but he got a LOT worse after contact with humans.
I'm willing to bet Khyron would have become uncontrollable with time, forcing the Masters to terminate him. This is why CE is such a messed up alignment, and why it's so rare even in villains.

Khyron was a loose cannon. Dolza, Breetai, and Azonia wanted to either send the Mighty 7th somewhere where they couldn't screw-up the retrieval mission or just waste Khyrona and his entire unit so they wouldn't have to deal with the headache Khyron brought to the table.
However, after the Quadrono, Khyron and his 7th Botoru were the most successful Zentraedi Unit out there. Always willing to volunteer to be in harms way, risking their lives and just letting it all hang out like a set of brass balls.
I think Khyron's 'Devil-May-Care' attitude is what drew Azonia to him in the first place. I also think that, even though she didn't know it until those last few eps, Azonia was always in love with Khyron.
But that's just me.
I also think that somewhere in the TSC continuity there's an adult Kravshera offspring running around (or if there isn't there should be. Big Hint for HG there)

Like Khyron actually would leave his number one priority to visit the Robotech Masters. Everyone knows Khyron's already in charge anyway.

You mean Khyron could have fathered a child with Azonia? I don't think Zentraedi can directly reproduce - they probably don't have the anatomy for it.
Neither Khyron nor Azonia ever submitted to micronization.
I'd go with cloning by the Masters, since that seems much more plausible, and more easily integrated with the storyline.

Yeah, but that was after she was micronized into human form. There don't seem to have been any examples of macronized Zentraedi reproducing, so it's reasonable to assume it's not possible. The Masters probably wouldn't have wanted the Zentraedi to be able to reproduce on their own, as this could have compromised control over them.

Actually sanman, there is one case of a macronized Zentraedi female giving birth to a full-sized Zentraedi infant.
Of course, it's only mentioned in Sentinels novels which-as many have unfortunately (and sometimes joyously IMO) pointed out-are secondary canon.
In the second Sentinels novel, a full-size Quadrono who fought under Azonia and Miriya during the 1st Robotech War did successfully seduce Breetai Tul.
Kazianna Hesh was one of the taller Quadronos. According to her description in the novel, she stood over fifty feet tall when full-size. Considering that Breetai himself (once again according to the novels) stood at least 60 feet tall, I'd call it a perfect match.
In the second Sentinels Novel, Kazianna finished her mining shift on Zarkopolis (Zentraedi Home World, possibly) and asked Breetai to show her around and tell her about the previous history of the Zentraedi. Well, being the forward Quadrono she is, Kazianna subtly cornered Breetai in his own house, undid the various clasps and latches of their space suits and deftly maneuvered Breetai into his own bedroom where....well let's just say you get the general idea.
Now in the fifth and final Sentinels novel, when Breetai died battling the Invid Regent in hand to hand combat, Kazianna was in the family way; pregnant with Breetai's son Drannin. Now I don't know how long Miriya was pregnant (I guessing the usual nine months) but I believe that as a full-sized Quadrono, Kazianna was pregnant for quite a long time (I'm guessing at least a year or so before Drannin was actually born).
But like I specified at the beginning of my response, this information is now a part of the 'secondary' canon so don't take it as official and set in stone.

What evidence is there that they couldn't reproduce? Remove sex from the picture, then explain the gender segregation. Remove sex from the picture, then explain why they even have gender.
