Subject: The rarest Robotech toy......
Started on: December 23, 2004 - 4:42:15 AM

What is the rarest or most hard to find Robotech toy? And im not talking about the Japanese toys. Im talking about Matchbox, Gakken, Haromony Gold, Bandai, and Toynami. From what ive seen (and I could be wrong)it looks like the Gakken Cyclones. But im no authority.

first off....:GAKKEN and BANDAI ARE JAPANESE COMPANIES !!!!!!!!!

Japan made ALL of the "robotech" toys WORTH mentioning(before toynami came along)..

matchbox REPACKAGED many of these JAPANESE toys(gakken's famous cyclones+alpha's ect)..and then sculpted some off the worst looking(non transforming)toys in the history of man kind!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PERIOD!

as far as the rarest of all?

...the GAKKEN TREAD (BETA FIGHTER!!!)!!!!

they made a handful of proto-types(never released) and they have sold for around $10,000.00 u.s.

pictures can be found at:

Is the rarest toy. I've never even seen a black suited Miriya on the card and only once loose. Cyclones can be expensive but are very common.

Don't confuse price with rarity

The Tread toy was never released under the Robotech name. Apart from prototypes it was part of the French Henshin Robos line so doesn't count.

Mospeadamos, I think LtPoorboy was refering to not counting Japanese licensed or released toys. By naming Gakken and Bandai, he probably knows they are Japanese toy makers that licensed toys under the Robotech name.

The Hover Tank and the large 6" Destroid/enemy mecha toys had very nice sculpts. So did the Cyclone motorcycle.

Because of the goofy VF1S Fighter and cheesy action figures, the entire line gets a bad rep. I think its undeserved. I even think the Officers Pod and Battlepod are well scuplted.

o.k. zor...you keep the precious myria,, I'll take the NON-robotech GAKKEN Tread ..anyday off the year!!!!

any anime collector who knows RARITY would laugh your myria out of the room!

and f.y.i..... the matchbox (non-variable)cyclone is a direct copy of a rare gakken..that's why the sculpt is so nice.

bottom line...the Tread toy does'nt "count" as robotech????>>that's pure un-adulterated bul$@##T!

and....your defense of the matchbox line is quite pitiful!you can keep them all.

i'll stick too japanese+toynami material, thankyou very much- have a nice day.

The Tread is not a Robotech toy because it was not released under the Robotech name.

I'll say it again in case you didnt read it this time or when I said it before: The Tread toy was never released under the Robotech name. Apart from prototypes it was part of the French Henshin Robos line so doesn't count.

LtPoorboys question: What is the rarest or most hard to find Robotech toy?

You did read my post didn't you?

What does this mean? "and f.y.i..... the matchbox (non-variable)cyclone is a direct copy of a rare gakken..that's why the sculpt is so nice."

Who said it wasn't? I didn't. Maybe not only did you not read my post you made one up in your head where I said to the contrary?

i read your post just fine>>you like the matchbox cyclone sculpt..

i simply mean ..the ONLY reason the 'robotech'(non-vari)cyclone is any good is due too it's gakken parentage..

as too say : it's no credit to matchbox..meaning the non gakken inspired match-box toys suck ass..

and suit yourself in regards too non-japanese robotech toys.
>they are WIDELY viewed as total cr@p..

i could'nt agree more.

and this whole issue of the tread not being "official robotech"...get real>>> robotech is the result of macross,SC,and you guessed it MOSPEADA.
thousands of GAKKEN MOSPEADA TOYS were sold under the official "robotech" name...thank you God.

so i think any 'robotech' toy collector would make note of the imfamous gakken tread .......thankyouverymuchgoodbye!!!!!

if poorboy want's too know the rarest matchbox cheese than it's myria..wowwwwe

They are in fact referring to a 'BlackSuited' (RDF) Miriya! VERY RARE!!!

My vote for the rareest "Robotech" toy is probably the Playmake Cardboard SDF-1...which when assembled measures nearly 5 1/2 feet...from what they tell me.

I have seen pics of the 'Beta' but I have never come across one myself.

I enjoy the 9" Cyclone, but I agree with the earlier statement that Price should not be blindly equivocated with true rarity. While the Cyc's are expensive they are readily available. There are other harder to come by 'Toys'

...and LTPoorboy specified 'Robotech'...which kinda limits our parameters. While I too own some Henshin & Gakken ... I keep them out of my RT collection; unless they have HG / RT licensing stamps on them!

Marshall: How come I havent seen you in any of the weekly Robotech Museum Saturday chats?

I to am a fellow Robotech completist/junkie collector. I am interested in hearing about your collection.

Email me some time or come in to the #robotechmuseum IRC chat.

Unfortunately LtPoorboy, we are only allowed to discuss HG licensed products on this board per the TOU. If you wanna drop in to the #robotechmuseum IRC chat or come over to the RDF-HQ forums, we can show you hundreds of items I'm sure you never knew existed

I explained to Cyc what I wanted to talk about meaning some of these non-Harmony Gold products and from the reply from Cyc I was o.k. as to not ask prices and where I could get these. Correct me if Im wrong? And if I am I will watch what I post. As for the Robotechmuseum.com Ive checked this out to view some of the older toys but did not notice a posting or forum?

there's 4 versions of Miriya...

Red/white uniform
Zentraedi sized (6")
blue uniform
black uniform

...or is it the same dark one, because mine doesn't look pitch black. It looks kinda blue/purple with green forearms with silver parts on the shoulders, midsection, and belt. There are red stripes across the legs, down the chest from the neck, and a red part on the center of the belt.

...Yes there appears to be 4 versions!

You are describing the Purple version. Which is Miriya's Zentraedi flight suit..(roughly) ...and micronized

The black version ... is about the same as the Red RDF version....except that where the red is she is Black. She had a red helmet too!

LtPoor - you are correct in your assumptions about posting!

If we're including all Macross and Genesis Climber toys...
Takatoku giftsets (armor or super Valks)
Takatoku SDF-1 (not bandai/Matchbox re-release)
Gakken Red Legioss (not Robotech Alpha)
Takatoku Elintseeker or Superostrich

Generally I think those fetch the biggest $$.

How come I never heard about any museum or RDF chats?? Talk about rude...
