This can in a newsletter email from one of my favorite bands, Universal Hall Pass (AKA Splashdown.)

Melissa has recently sung for the Japanese animation saga "ROBOTECH: The Shadow Chronicles"

That is so friggin awesome. Her band did a song for Titan AE called "Karma Slave."
I posted a long time ago that her band would be great for Robotech and now here they are making music for The Shadow Chronicles. I am so stoked...this is just going to make the wait that much longer for me...waaaaaaaa!!!! | |

NOT THE TYPE OF MUSIC I AM INTO. TO MELLOW. WAIT AND SEE FOR ME
JANICE IS BEING PLAYED BY CHASE MASTERSON, A SINGER ALREADY PICKED FOR THAT ROLE. BECOUSE SHE IS THE SINGER.
FOR ANOTHER SINGER COMING IN WILL HAVE TO SEE WHO SHE WILL PLAY.
IN THE COMICS MINMEI WAS LEFT TIROL.

Nice find, indeed, ProtoOni.
I checked out the UHP web site and downloaded the sample MP3s. Their interpretation of "Ring of Fire" was...interesting.
Overall the group's music isn't my cup of tea (your mileage may vary). But, Ms. Kaplan is a very good singer and has a beautiful voice, so no complaints. I'm sure she'll do a bangup job with whatever songs are thrown her way. As a bonus, she'll be a welcome addition to the next Robocon.  | |

ProtoOni, you may have inadvertantly stumbled upon one of the most highly sought-after pieces of information this year:
which is slated for release this summer 2006
So at least we have it narrowed down to a timeframe. We'll say "summer" is anywhere between Memorial Day and Labor Day. But since we're dealing with Harmony Gold, "summer" might run right through Halloween. 
It's a start. Time to bug TPTB to confirm or deny. | |

Melissa has a great range of music types from electronica to popular rock. Her song "Karma Slave" on Titan AE is a good example of a more rock like song where as her song "Waterbead" which you can find on the sounds section of the UHP site is more electronic and mellow. She like to take ethnic sounds like India and Asia influences and incorporate it into her music. She can also sing in German and Hebrew. She is always singing for commercails and doing ambiant music for movies. So she might not be a character. She might do something akin to the voice work at the beginning of Battle Star Galactica.
MEMO she would rock as Musica that is for sure. MEMO also thanks for adding links to Melissa info.
As for the Summer 2006, lets hope its accurate we have seen second party sites throw out a date and then see it fall through before. | |

YEAH, THATH'S WHAT I THOUGHT AS WELL. I HEARD SOME OF THE CLIPS AS WELL. BUT KINDA HARD FOR ME IN MY TASTE TO ROL WITH HER CD IN THE CAR. I HAVE THE ROBOTECH 2ND CD AND I CAN REALLY INJOY IT IN A DRIVE.
THIS IS TO CLOSE TO ENYA OR BJORK (DON'T KNOW HOW TO SPEEL THE NAMES) SOMETHING I DID LIKE...BUT BACK IN THE DAY.
I THINK WHAT PROTO SAID. GALACTICA/MUSICA STYLE.
AND NO PROBLEM, IT'S YOUR FIND. THERE WERE MORE BUT WOULD NOT FLY IN THE TOU RADAR.

How do you find this stuff out so fast?? DARKWATER!! 
Anyways. yeah, Melissa did some "melisimatic" type singing for me. You know, like Lisa Gerard in "Gladiator", Lisabeth Scott in "The Passion" or as you point out in this thread Raya Yarbrough in BATTLESTAR GALACTICA (Funny you mention him, Bear is a GOOD friend of mine!). I love Melissa's voice and style so I hope to work with her much more in the future. She's really a great singer / musician.
As for Chase, she sings also but in a different way. The two singers did completely different type of work with me. Just think SONGS versus VOCALIZE. Its a different style of working. Chase is a good friend of mine too whom I totally respect. She is wonderful in so many ways.
Oh, and Melissa was guessing on the release so do not get too excited about anything saying "SUMMER" or anything. When HG announces the release date we will all know! Until then we all have to just wait and let them do their business.
The Robotech fans surprise me all the time -- you guys dig up any tiny bit of news anywhere within 48-hours tops! Amazing! It won't be long now for the release (or will it??).. You find out and tell me!!
