Yes Tommunist, I've seen a few commericals already involving the Robotech debuting on Space, I saw most of them on prime time hours after the 'Movies from Space', Stargate Atlantis and a few major other TV series, etc.

Sounds like Space is realy pushing this series which is good for promoting Robotech here up north.

BTW they have listed this on their show pages already. Link is here below;

This is something I have thought about at great lenghts. I really should find something constructive to focus myself on, but so far all you get is rambliongs:

Things are more enjoyable when you can't control them. I have the protoculture collection too but it's more fun if you try to be home and watch it on TV; you have to make a big event of it.

This is the same reason why I don't like iPods. If you have all the episodes to watch whenever, (or 10 000 songs you can just listen to whenever you want) the simple availability kills the enjoyment. "Oh it doesn't matter if I miss it, I can just watch the DVD," therefore the show itself looses its necessity and the effort put into the event, and consequently a good amount of the enjoyment. You can't enjoy something that doesn't matter that much. We appreciate things more if we really have to work for them.

Also if there are too many options I personally have a hard time deciding what I want, and soon loose interest and skip to the next episode/song. The static nature of the TV station telling me what to watch means I have to sit and appreciate that episode, I have no other options so my mind has less room to wander. Yeah I think I have a mild form of ADD. But from my experience a very large portion of us have at least a mild form of ADD.

ALSO it envokes the same feelings of urgency when we were kids running home after school to find out what happens next. That's just nostalgia, but it is enhanced by following the same motions.

To be able to watch the original 85 from 85... kinda nostalgic. Although I'm not sure how many fans it will create, it can happen. You Canadians have a good thing, now you all have to watch it, commercials and all, so that it doesn't get cancelled.

for us loyal fans who are already familiar with the show is to let others know about it. The non-fans who may or may not be aware of the series, but yet may be a sci-fi or anime fan.

It's the non-fan we must attract, spread the word, tell everyone you know. Let them know about this show so that if the ratings are high enough, this show will get noticed, and not be cancelled.

Prove to the advertisers who are paying for advertise time on the commecial time slots that Robotech is worth keeping around.

If it can work up here and stay, then it may spread elsewhere, to US, europe, and around the world. There's a glut of Star Trek on television, it's time for something from the past to renew interest in sci-fi again and that is what robotech is best at doing.

The fandom must go on, it's time to pass the torch to a new generation of Robotech fans and robotech back on cable is a wonderful step in infusing life into the tired fandom.

antro2001, I hope one day robotech will go back onto cable to our brothers in the south, in the good ole' U. S. of A.

It's time to awake a sleeping giant, and bring back the thunder in it's wake.

I would like to say it has been over 20 years since it first aired and us lowly North Ontario Quadrant folks were hooked it is especially nice to see Toronto get "Nuked".. Just joking a lot of my family and friends are in that area. I never thought I would see Robotech Return to Canada. I watched it with my 5 year old son. Then my wife said it was not appropriate for him to watch. So I changed it to tree house and Went and watched it myself.

I just got back from a week in Mexico Sunday night, and forgot to set my VCR to tape it while I was at work yesterday! How was the quality of the broadcast; did they use the newer, cleaned-up version? Does anyone think they will run it again once all 85 episodes air? Either way, I'm taping it today, but now I can't show the first two to my wife (assuming I could tie her down and tape her eyes open!).

I agree Tommunist. There's something special about seeing a show in the moment.

Oh, thx for the FPS link Kevin. Very nice.

It looks like its the Remastered version that Space is airing. The opening and closing credits are the ones from the Remastered DVD sets with the enhanced sound effects and the generation specific (Macross/Masters/Invid) scenes and titles.

I have never seen the re-mastered edition, but since I missed the Monday premiere, I caught up by finding and watching the first two on veoh.com. The title text and animation sequences are differnt from what Space is brodcasting, as well as the quality was poorer than on Space. But now i'm trying to remember what the title animations were when I watched it as a kid. I seem to remember the one that shows SC and TNG parts, but I'm also sure that I've seen the purely Macross version as well, but don't know where since I haven't seen Robotech in any sort of re-mastered versions before Space running it.

You know, its been kind of nice this past week to be able to come home, turn on the TV, and watch Robotech. Its been a real blast, feels almost like it was 20 years ago (except I'm coming home from work and not school now). Having the old commercial bumpers really helps feed the sense of nostalgia.

Just finished watching "Farewell Big Brother" that I had taped earlier today. I think it's the one of the most mature and best-scripted episodes since the first two. It was almost as sad to see Roy collapse this time around as I remember it being when I was a kid. What was really suprising was how lonely that pinapple salad looked just sitting there on the table, and it's affect on me when I realized that it would never be eaten...

It's good to show the younger generation what Anime is really all about. Hopefully the is a Shadow Chronicles Series to follow in the near future.

I wonder how many new viewers are actually getting into this show? I love it, but even still, it's hard sometimes to look past it's faults, like the same, cheesy songs from Minmei over and over, or the usual faults found in older anime, like wrong colours, or continuity problems, etc. For example, I didn't like it when Roy went back to rescue Rick and Minmei from the VT. He's coming at them in battloid mode, but when it flashes back to him, you see him through the canopy as if he's in fighter or guardian mode. I know it's nitpicky, but it makes me wish we could see the entire series re-drawn to today's standards. Not necessarily CG though...

Watching the episodes on TV again I noticed they weren't as corny as I'd feared they'd be. Robotech holds up remarkably well for a 20-year-old show (try watching old episodes of A-Team or Knight Rider with a straight face).

Space is advertising the heck out of the show so hopefully a lot of new people are tuning in to try it out.

I'm having a blast watching Robotech on TV... wahoooo!

and yeah I noticed it wasn't as corny as I thought either... pretty good most of the time but when it is corny it's super bad.

Isn't that always the case? The VCR works great until it has to record the very important thing that cannot be missed. As for watching online that would be illegal, and that sort of talk is very frowned upon here on the official message boards of the company that produces the show.

From a non-copyright infringing perspective you've got 3 options. (1) Find a friend who taped it and borrow it; (2) Borrow/rent/buy the DVDs; or (3) Wait a little under 2 months for the daily airings to cycle through and return to this point (that's 85 episodes, 2 a day, 5 days a week - so 8.5 weeks to cycle through the whole series).

My apologies, I thought there were certain sites that could offer TV shows. As for finding friends who taped it or have the DVD's, they don't exist for me. Unfortunately, I am an island of nerdiness in a sea of rednecks, jocks, and others who think I'm immature for watching Robotech...
