Subject: If the Sentinels were ever completed...

I'd make the Sentinels live up to the literal definition of their name and portray them as loyal subjects of the Robotech Empire and charged with its defense following the destruction of the Zentraedi armada and the absence of the Masters themselves.
It'd be the Sentinels who the REF encounters in their search for the Masters' homeworld and it is THEY (not the Invid) who serve as the main antagonist during the bulk of the story.
Naturally, the REF would eventually make peace with them as they did with the Zentraedi, but only after a protracted conflict filled with adventure, suspense and drama.
And like the Macross saga, there would be deaths of major characters. Lisa would die. This would serve the same purpose as Roy's death and contribute to the evolution of Rick's character. It would also get Robotech back to its edgy anime roots when there were no "character shields" and not everyone lived to be old and gray (although Lisa looks a third of her age in PTTSC).
