Subject: 2009 ROBOTECH CONVENTION TOUR SUGGESTIONS!

Hello Everyone,
With the 2008 Robotech Convention Tour is now completed, I’m fast at work booking stops for the 2009 Robotech Convention Tour! While I’m busy booking events for 2009, I wanted to take a moment to explain how you can help bring the tour to your city.
WHERE DOES THE ROBOTECH CONVENTION TOUR GO?
The Robotech Convention Tour only goes to conventions, film festivals and events that it is invited to attend.
HOW CAN I BRING THE ROBOTECH CONVENTION TOUR TO MY LOCAL CONVENTION?
Contact your local conventions and tell them that you want the 2009 Robotech Convention Tour to make a stop at your local convention to get your business! Feel free to give them my e-mail so they can contact me:
kev@robotech.com
WHY IS IMPORTANT THAT I TELL MY CONVENTION ABOUT THE TOUR?
Conventions want to bring in guests that their fans demand. If more people demand the tour the tour can go to more places.
HOW DO I FIND A CONVENTION NEAR ME?
AnimeCons.com has a comprehensive database of Anime Conventions all around the world. You look at their database here
http://www.animecons.com/events/
I LIVE OUTSIDE THE UNITED STATES. CAN THE TOUR MAKE A STOP IN MY COUNTRY?
YES!
However, you must let your local conventions or film festivals know that you want the 2009 Robotech Convention Tour to make a stop at your local convention or film festvial in your country to get your business! Feel free to give them my e-mail so they can contact me:
kev@robotech.com
We will make every reasonable effort to attend events outside of the United States, however, those events must extend an invitation to the tour.
I RUN A CONVENTION. WHAT DOES IT TAKE FOR ME TO BOOK THE TOUR?
Please e-mail me at kev@robotech.com to find out more information.
WHEN WILL WE FIND OUT WHAT CITIES ARE BOOKED FOR 2009?
The first round of tour stops will be posted on the week of December 15th!

Thanks for the info Kevin. Our con could be moved to piggy back the Supernova or Sci-Fi, i will try to get you as much info as possible to get you guys down here. Bigger the better, your very welcome to attend.

We, a group of latin american fans, are planning to have a RT convention but the idea has just come out a few days ago so it's still that, an idea. If we get to manage to organize all for next year, we'd love that the 2009 RT Convention Tour coud be there!!
we'll mail you when we have more news.

Conventions are labor intensive and they also require you (the organizers) putting up capital (money) to cover costs of bringing the tour down to your event. So it's always important to do your homework and make sure you are fully ready to take on the organizational and financial responsibilities before you contact us.
I bring this up as in the past there have been numerous examples on the convention circuit of people taking on more than they can handle, often leading to disastrous consequences. So it is very important that you sit down with your group and work out event budgets, venue contracts, hotel accommodations and the like to see if you can pull it off.
(The above list is only a small part of what it takes to put on a convention.)
There is no need to rush and thinking of 2010 or 2011 to give yourself time to plan your event correctly is a good thing. (Most successful conventions usually give themselves a good 18-24 months of prep-time before their first show.)
I hope this helps.

Having talked to the SupaNova people, it looks like it isn't happening for 2008 (sad).
So let's push for "SupaNova Brisbane 2009"
Can we get Bradley to do the Acoustic version of LSB?

waiting to hear back from SCi-Fi Extreme, on possibilites, Neoculture i'm very interested in what discussions you have with the Supernova reps in reagrds to getting RT.com over, you can e-mail me if you get the time. There are a number of factos that make it hard to get Rt.com over. One of the main reasons is thatthe economy has died in the arse, literally.
I'm working with a couple of other people in fact, who may be able to get some rather lovely people down under, ahh yes, would be awesome to hear him sing Lonely Soldier Boy live.

Make it a USO event....
Come on guys, you might actually have some fun.
If I was stilled deployed to that neck of the woods I know I would try to go.
Not a bad idea CPT Murdock.
I second it.

SPJ & GM,
The USO website says I need to talk with Armed Forces Entertianment.
I sent out numerous feelers (both e-mail and telephone) to Armed Forces Entertianment (the organization that brings entertianers over) and I never recieved a response. I'm more than willing to work an make this happen...do you guys know anyone that I can contact?
Also tell your CO's you want the Robotech Tour...perhaps they might give me a contact.

Kev. I asked because last year or the year before, I forget, I met(again) Chase as she did a special show for all us forces peeps, although it was in London.
Kev I have your email, so I'll ask, since my C.O is my one-up.
I've always had this vision of having M.Bradley sing his awesome songs in the orange haze. Already, We Will Win & LSB are hits for my crew at least.

I've been a Robotech fan for years, and I was wondering why there hasn't been a convention here in the Maritimes. I live in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada. There are a lot of fans around here that feel the same way. Hopefully there will be one soon around here.

We do not host conventions (this is a common misconception). The conventions we attend are put on by third parties and they run the show.
The Robotech Convention Tour only goes to conventions, film festivals and events that it is invited to attend. I'd be more than happy to book the tour into Animaritime in Moncton (its your local convention) however, they must extend a invitation to us.
What you should do is contact the Animaritime conchair and tell them you want the 2009 Robotech Convention Tour to get your business.
Feel free to give my e-mail kev@robotech.com
I hope this clears things up

Loved having the Robotech experience at my local con, Nan Desu Kan (NDK), this year. It was nice meeting both Tommy and Steve. BTW, I met you (Kevin) at MechaCon back in 2005 when we got to see "TSC".
I will make sure to put a bug in the NDK'ers ears, for sure.

Hello. Keep an eye out for an email message from the Zenkaikon con chair. Our attendance more than doubled this year (~570 in 2007 to over 1300 in 2008). For 2009 Zenkaikon will be at the Valley Forge Radisson in PA(directly next door to last year's location the Scanticon) Nov. 7 & 8. We might be too late to try to book something for 2009 (dates are probably filling fast) but there is always 2010. We'll be in touch. www.zenkaikon.com

A larger presence at Anime Expo would be great. It was very disappointing this past year that there was no Robotech in the Exhibition Hall. In years past when someone asked me where to get an SDF-1 hat like mine I could say, "At the Robotech booth!"
We've heard the stories about vendors not being pleased with the new Donwtown L.A. location, but attendance in 2008 was still high. It was also very sad to see/hear many of the major companies saving their big announcements and news for Comic-Con instead of unveiling at Anime Expo, where the true fans are.

an update,
For all us Aussies, dates are pretty much locked in at Saturday 16th of May and following Sunday the 17th May 2009.
Sci-Fi Extreme is going to piggy back the Macross Aus Con 09 on the Sunday, with hopefully some really cool surprises, that's all i can divulge at this point in time, will hopefully gain official details of Sunday's happenings in the coming week.
But as for the Macross Australian Convention 2009 or MAC AUS CON 09', that's rock solid. People can e-mail me (check profile here or at MacrossWorld.com see link) for details.
Cheers,
