"I first met Robotech through the McKinney novels in 1988, and watched
the show on one of its rare European syndications in 1989. Then there
was a lot of nothing, until Peter Walker started his fanfiction and
produced the first few Technical Files. I mailed him with some
suggestions and he answered that if I wanted it somewhat different,
I should write them myself and he'd take them into account."
"So it got a little out of hand. Instead of the more important ships
and mecha of Mospeada done in a few weeks we ended up with a multi-year
project, ten or so contributors, and every mecha seen, glimpsed or
ever intended by the animators. Looking back, I can only conclude
that sometime in 1993 or so "Robotech: the technical background" became
a hobby of mine."
