Q: Why were the names from the original shows changed?   - Anonymous A: The names of certain characters were changed during the production of Robotech to appeal to the American and international markets. In some cases, the names were changed dramatically (i.e. Hikaru Ichijo – Rick Hunter, Misa Hayase – Lisa Hayes, Lana Isavia – Nova Satori, Mint Rubble – Annie LaBelle). In others the change was subtle (i.e. Claudia LaSalle – Claudia Grant, Stig Bernard – Scott Bernard, Maximillian Genius – Max Sterling). Others were changed for story reasons (i.e. Jeanne Francaix – Dana Sterling, Bowie Emerson – Bowie Grant, Aisha - Marlene), while some were not changed at all (i.e. Breetai, Exedore, Rolf Emerson).   - Tom Bateman
