Presenting... THE ROBOTECH.COM FLASH CONTEST!!!!

UPDATE FOR FEB 12, 2002:
Winners will be announced on the 15th of February, as part of the Robotech.com one year anniversary celebration!

If you aren't aware, Robotech.com has a Flash Gallery and we've left it open in case we got around to making some Flash movies. Sadly, the section has collected more spider webs than Flash movies up until now. At the same time, we've talked about doing contests but never got around to it. Well, we had a stroke of genius and decided to make a contest out of the fact that we have no Flash movies! Do you know how to make Flash animations? Have you always wanted your animated movie to be showcased on Robotech.com? Robotech fans, now is your chance to Flash us!

Normally, Macromedia Flash software costs $400. However, you can get a free 30-day trial version with tutorials by going to Macromedia's trial software download section!

THE PRIZES:

GRAND PRIZE (aka First Prize): One lucky winner will get a complete set of all 5 Masterpiece Collection Veritechs from Toynami, valued at about $400! These 1/55 scale toys will be a very limited edition and this will be your chance to secure them for yourself! Of course, you'll have to wait a few months, but each Masterpiece Veritech will be delivered to your doorstep as they become available! Also, the winning entry will be showcased on the front page of Robotech.com!

SECOND PRIZE: Three lucky winners will get second prize (unlike at the Olympics). The second prize winners will get a complete set of all five Super-Poseable Veritechs!

THIRD PRIZE: Five lucky winners will receive the 6th box set of Robotech DVD's, valued at $45 each! DVD box set 6 will contain the first 12 episodes of the New Generation segment of Robotech, along with an Extras disc full of bonus material!

THE RULES: (because our lawyers said we had to have some)

- The Robotech Flash Contest will be open from November 29 till January 31st. Submissions must be received by the end of January 31st. Harmony Gold will then judge the submissions and announce the winners on February 11th! Winners will be notified directly by email no later than February 15th.

- Submissions must be emailed to
flashcontest@robotech.com

- The submitting contestant must be the person who created the submitted Flash movie, or must be authorized to submit the Flash movie on the creator's behalf.

- Submissions must pertain to Robotech and will be judged on artistic merit. Obscene, offensive and controversial subject matter will be disqualified and sent to the recycle bin. Decisions on winners are final and will be solely on the opinions of the judges.

- Contestants are free to use the images and likenesses of Robotech characters, settings and machinery in their submissions.

- Contestants are free to use Robotech music and sound effects in the submission.

- No purchase necessary, but you will need to have software to create Flash animations. If you don't already have the necessary software and can't afford to purchase Macromedia Flash, you can download a free 30-day trial version with tutorials from Macromedia's website.

- Contest is not open to Harmony Gold employees (duh).

- This contest is open to everyone else, even if you're from Australia. However, we can't ship prizes to Japan.

- Contest submissions must be in Flash SWF format. Native resolution of each submission must be no wider than 480 pixels and no taller than 360 pixels. Submissions must be 5 minutes or shorter when played, and cannot have a file size larger than 3 MB.

- You can submit up to 5 movies. However, keep in mind whether you will improve your chances of winning by spreading all of your effort across a bunch of movies or focusing all your creative energy into one.

- By submitting a Flash movie, you acknowledge that it is deemed property of Harmony Gold in perpetuity. You also acknowledge that your submission is governed by the Robotech.com Terms of Use

- All taxes (federal, state and local, if any) are the responsibility of the winners.

- Harmony Gold USA Inc is not responsible for late, misdirected or corrupted entries.

- Offer void where prohibited, restricted or regulated by law.

- And lastly, have fun! Comedy is highly encouraged!
